She married April 25, 1744, Wait Chat- \n terton, as his 2nd wife. He was the son of Samuel \n and Elizabeth (Warner) Chatterton and born \n Sept. 18, 1709, died Nov. 29, 1793. Oct. 2, 1784 Joseph Peck.\n\n*My Beach line* \n**Aaron (4) Gershom (3) Thomas (2) John (1)** \n was born January 14, 1726-7 and bp. by Parson \n Hall of Cheshire March 12, 1727. He died March \n 25, 1822 at Chittenden, Vermont, of which town \n he was one of the original proprietors. He mar- \n ried about 1746 to Esther Keeler and probably at \n Farmington, Conn. for his first child was born \n there. The Providence, R. I. Gazette of May 18, \n 1822, publishes his obituary which indicates that \n the Vermont Record of death is wrong. It says: \n \"Aaron Beach of Chittenden, Vt., died in his 96th \n year; was born at Wallingford, Conn., 1726. He \n went to Louisburg in 1745, was at the reduction \n of Cape Breton in 1758 and was with General \n Abercrombie at Ticonderoga. The next year he \n was with General Amherst at Crown Point. In \n 1760 he was at Montreal and Quebec. He served \n in the Revolution and was at the surrender of \n Burgoyne and served to the end of the war.\" It \n is added in a local history of Vermont that but \n for the timely intervention of friends he would \n have joined the expedition into Canada in the \n war of 1812. His first two children are recorded \n in the Farmington records and perhaps others. \n His service in the war should not be confused with \n that of his nephew Aaron who was a resident of \n Rutland and a Sergeant and Ensign. This Aaron \n was an Armourer and so classified on the Conn. \n Colonial rolls\n\nChildren, prob. incomplete:\n\nGershom, b. In number 1 of Vol. 1 on pages 17, 18 and 19 is to be found the story of this man in the article entitled, \"Who Warned the Green Mountain Boys.\" Anything that might be added here would be cumulative and the reader is referred to that article for the story of his military exploits. In warning the Green Mountain Boys to join Ethan Allen for the attack on Ticonderoga, he can be justly classed as one of the outstanding figures in American History. He is the ancestor of the writer and for that reason perhaps more data has been obtained than of others of the family. His early life is supposed to have been spent in N. J., with his uncle Benjamin, but no proof of this has been found. He may have stayed with his mother in Connecticut after she married to Daniel Andrews. It is certain that he was early in Vermont with the other members of the family, his brothers-in-law and cousins. He made his home for a part of the time in Lanesboro and New Ashford and other towns in the Berkshire hills. We find him in Vermont before 1770 and after that he marries his 2nd wife in Lanesboro and her home at that time was in Pittsfield, Mass.\n\nThe children here given are for both wives and may be incomplete.\n\nChildren:\n\nSamuel, b. 1752, d. She appears in an early note made by me to have married Elon Andross of Wallingford, and in Caleb's will he leaves \"but 5 shillings to his daughter Sarah Andros, wife of Elon Andros of Wallingford.\" The name of course is Andrews and in referring to the New Haven Genealogical Magazine, an exceptionally reliable authority on New Haven families, I find that Elon Andrews, b. Nov. 26, 1721, d. Sept. 22, 1783 is given as having married a Sarah whose last name was not, at the date of publication, known to the editor of that magazine. He gives the probable date of birth of his Sarah as 1737, basing it upon the cemetery records which say she died in 1787 at the age of 60.
