{"page_1": " Amos Weller served several enlistments as sergeant and was engaged in the battles of Ticonderoga, Crown Point and St John. He applied and was placed on pension July 31, 1932 receiving an annual allowance of \\$101.66. He was at the taking of Ft Ticonderoga and Allen said to him, \"Here lend us your shoulder\". It was to lift an old farm hat. Mrs Mabel Tuttle Casely says the following incident was told to her by a lady who heard it from the lips of Amos Weller, \"a colored servant of Allens was close by when a sentinel aimed at Allen. The colored man stepped between Allen and the gun and was killed. It was said it was the last time the Sentinel ever killed another man. Amos Weller was the father of Mrs. Moses Lester. In the records of New York on Amos Weller (Willis) served several enlistments as follows: \nPrivate, Capt Charles Graham's Co. commanded by Col. Philip Corlandt; enlisted May 5, 1778 for 9 months and was reported in the company muster roll for the months of Sept to June 1779 inclusive discharged Feb 3. The Co. pay roll for the same period shows he was discharged Feb 17; \nAn Amos Weller, served in Capt Abraham Hartwell's Co, Vanderburgh's Regt New York militia from Dutchess Co. Name appears in the Co pay roll Sept 1778 dated Ft Clinton Sept 23, 1778 service 14 days. \nAnother Amos Weller (Willis) private in Capt Robert Cockens Co, Major Browns Detachment which appear to have been made up of organizations of militia from N.H., H and Mass. Name appears in a muster roll of that detachment covering the period from Dec. 26, 1775 to\n\nJan 30, 1776 dated camp near Quebec. Feb 16, 1776 which shows that he enlisted Nov 26, 1775 and that he was present.\n\nAmos Weller, sergeant, Capt Aaron Wills' Co, Col. Marvin Wills N.Y. regiment. Neither date of entry into service nor the date of his separation is shown on the records on file but the records do show that a certificate in the amount of 2,14.52 DB was issued in account of his service.\n\nRef: Major General The Adjutant General Office, War Dept Washington D.C. He was engaged in the battles of Ticonderoga Crown Point and St John.
