He enlisted at Rutland, VT \nand was only 19 years of age at the time. Served part of the time \nunder Captain Porter and Col. Ethan Allen and at the time \nof the surrender of Fort Ticonderoga was the 3rd man behind Col. Allen \nand distinctly heard the command \"I demand this Fort in \nthe name of the great Jehovah and the Continental Congress.\" \nHe received application for pension July 11, 1832 at which time \nhe was 76 years of age\n\nMrs. Hullett's statement apparently is based on tradition and \nshould be considered on that basis since at the time of the \nacceptance of her application, no proof as to facts was required. "}
