{"page_2": " Notes: Samuel Beach was born in New Jersey, removed to Virginia there to Vermont previous to August 5, 1774 when he was deeded property in Brandon. (Hist of Addison. Co by Smith p 728) Was one of the messengers sent by Ethan Allen to warn the inhabitants of the need of their presence at the rendezvous at Castleton just prior to the expedition against Ticonderoga in May 1775 (Hist of VT by Crockett Vol 1 pp 428-9) Was in Arnolds expedition to Quebec in 1776 under Capt Robert Cochran in Major Brown's Detachment; as Ensign in Col. Warner's Regt in 1777; appointed Lieut by the General Assembly of Vermont Nov 25, 1782 (VT State Papers by Crockett Vol 4 pp 229) volunteered to go on the expedition to Ticonderoga at the time of the invasion of Skeena's Fort in 1780; also responded to several alarms with Col. Ebenezer Allen's Regiment in that year. Went to Whitney from Rutland in 1783 or 1784 being appointed proprietors clerk at the first meeting held in Whitney in 1783. Has been called blacksmith and surveyor. In 1788 Samuel Beach of Whitney was called Captain\n\nOn Feb 22, 1782. was laid out a lot to Samuel Beach in Rutland.
