The Librarians screening
The Librarians is a 2025 American documentary film, directed and produced by Kim A. Snyder. It follows librarians in Texas, Florida, and other states, as they unite to combat book banning in the United States.
It's pretty much life-choice-affirming for librarians. I was fortunate enough to be invited to a screening & panel discussion in Waitsfield (home town of co-producer Janique Robillard) a few months back. It packs an emotional wallop sharing a theater with an audience of sympathetic viewers. So now it's our turn!
Rutland Free Library is hosting a free screening at The Paramount Theater ahead of Banned Books week 2026. The film will be followed by a panel discussion including former VT Teacher of the Year Karen McCalla, author Jo Knowles from Authors Against Banned Books, and at least one other guest TBD.
