Much more approachable, fun, interesting selection of titles than The Guardian's earlier "best of" list. More genre novels (Dune, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), humor (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, A Confederacy of Dunces) ... .
Unless you're a complete masochist, this is a better list for the average reader who wants some suggestions to start with.
