Solomon Hapgood\nNOTES: Came to the vicinity of Bellows Falls, Vt. about 1760 and became owner of a square mile of land, located\nin the southeast corner of Rockingham and northeast\ncorner\nof Westminster.\nThe land extended on the Connecticut River\na half mile north and south of the town line between Rockingham and Westminster and one mile west which is now covered by the villages of Beitows Falls and North Westminster He built the first saw and grist mill on Saxtons\nRiver.\nHe was prominent in all lodal affairs of the\nvicinity;\nserved in the French and Indian was as a member\nof the expedition to Ticonderoga and Crown Point in 1759, and in the army that marched to Montreal in 1760; commissioned under King George III of ingland by\nGoV.
