    On June 1, we are moving to new summer hours. The biggest change is that we will open at 10 AM daily. Monday & Wednesday, 10 AM to 9 PM; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10 AM to 5:30 PM; Saturday 10 AM to 5 PM. Closed Sunday.

  • Online Access to Historical Rutland High School Yearbooks

    The Rutland Historical Society and the library have partnered to make selected years of the Rutland High School Yearbook from 1930-1993 (more coming!) available. Check it out by clicking on the title!

  • Try TumbleBooks ebooks for Kids!

    Click on the Kids Space tab to access TumbleBooks! Find animated, talking picture books with fiction, non-fiction and foreign language titles, and Read-Alongs (chapter books with sentence highlighting and narration.)

  • Billings Farm and Museum Pass Now Available

    We now have a pass for 2 adults and 2 children for the Billings Farm and Museum! Call or swing by the library to borrow it.  

  • Check out the schedule for 2013′s Community Cinema

    Rutland Film Society and Rutland Free Library present a second year of outstanding films and panel discussion. Every 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7pm.

  • Library Elf

    Sign up for Library Elf, a new service we subscribe to, and you can receive emails or text messages for holds and due dates on your library account.

  • Reader’s Corner

    Reader’s Corner (which you can find in the left-hand menu, and the top menu) features all the resources you need about books in our library. There are links to InterLibrary Loan and a request form for new books and dvds. Check it out today!

  • Check Out Museum and Park Passes!

    We have passes available for Vermont State Parks, Historic Sites, and Echo Lake Aquarium and Science Center. Ask at the circulation desk or call for more information.

About the Program
The Rutland Free Library invites kids of all ages to join the 2012 Summer Reading Club.
Reading during the summer is lots of fun and helps keep skills sharp. Membership is easy. Just let us know you wish to join. You’ll receive a colorful membership packet. Record the books you read during the summer. Bring your reading record in throughout the summer and receive stickers, ice cream, and a book. Visit the library for craft programs, performances, and great books. Add your star to our readers’ sky display.
Children of all ages may participate because the reader’s record can be used for children who are reading independently or being read to.

Collect cool stickers to decorate your reading record!
Bring in your reading record beginning June 25thth. Show us your reading entries and receive a sheet of stickers.
Free books for Summer Reading Club Members!
Bring in your reading record beginning July 9th. Show us your reading entries and choose a book for your home library.
Free ice cream for Summer Reading Club Members!
Bring in your reading record beginning July 30th. Show us your reading entries and receive a coupon for a free soft ice cream from Seward’s Family Restaurant.
End of summer raffle for fun prizes!
Each time you check out books, you may enter your name in the raffle for fun prizes.

Bats!

Learn all about bats and make a bat stenciled t-shirt.
Bring your own washed cotton shirt or buy one at the program.

Nightshirt Tie Dye
August 17, Friday @ 4 PM
Tie dye returns to the library lawn this summer. Bring an over-sized washed cotton
shirt to make into a nightshirt or bring a pillowcase. Tie dye cupcakes served, too. All ages.

Tales to Tails Summer
Thursdays July 19 @ 2 pm, & Aug. 9 @ 2 pm
Kids, this summer you may meet, greet, and read to our
fabulous reading partner dogs. Collectable bookmarks of the dogs, too. All ages. Free.
